One Way to Get a Cheaper Hotel Rate

Do NOT book your hotel room through the hotel chain’s toll-free reservation number or strictly depend upon their website.  There’s no opportunity to negotiate a better rate or learn about a better room that just became available.  Call the property directly.  There is usually at least one hotel promotion going on at all times.  ASK!  They won’t volunteer the information.
