Is it Cheaper to Fly or Drive? Use the Fly or Drive Calculator!
In spite of the dreaded TSA encounters, the checked baggage fees, and reduced customer service, you might think that flying is easier than driving, right? Well, maybe not. But more important, money is tight now. When traveling within the continental United States, have you ever wondered whether it was cheaper to fly or drive?
That depends upon how many people are traveling together, what kind of car you have, how much time it will take, and much more.
I have a friend who recently asked me for the cheapest airfare to a destination where his daughter was getting ready to have twins. He was in a HURRY! The airfare was expensive, the departure times were infrequent, and it turned out that if he drove there, it would be faster AND cheaper; plus he would have a car when he arrived there.
That’s not always the case, though. So how can you decide if it’s cheaper to fly or drive?
Use the free Fly or Drive Calculator located at BeFrugal.com!
You will tell it where and when you are going, what type of car you have, how much you would pay for a hotel en route, how many people, etc. The results include how much each option would cost and how long each would take. It even calculates the carbon dioxide impact for each mode of travel.

What is the Fastest Way to Travel?
In a hurry? Then it’s time to make plane reservations; right? Not necessarily. When you factor in the time it takes to get to and from the airport, the time you spend checking in and then walking what seems like miles to your departure area, and then waiting for the plane to be boarded, etc., etc., there are many times when it’s more time-efficient (and simpler) to take a train, a bus, or a car.
And now with the prices at the gas pump so much lower, driving is a serious option. Plus you won’t have to rent a car when you get there! Check all of your options and do a price comparison as well as an arrival-time comparison; and never assume anything until you do all of your homework.
Ginger Can Prevent Motion Sickness
Are you tired of wearing a “patch” when you take a cruise? Do you wish there were some way to prevent motion sickness without taking drugs which makes you sleepy (and which don’t even work if you fail to take them in advance of feeling queasy)?
One solution is GINGER. The herb? Yes. And not only does it really work; but even if you unexpectedly start to get seasick (or airsick; or carsick), ginger will STILL help. Powdered ginger root capsules are available at health food stores.
