There are 936 World Heritage sites listed by the UNESCO as having special cultural or physical significance throughout the world. There are 35 on the endangered site list right now, including Everglades National Park in Florida.
These endangered sites are at risk of disappearing due to natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods, as well as man-made problems such as pollution, poaching, excessive tourism, and war. If you want to see sites like the Belize Barrier Reef, the Tropical Rainforest of Sumatra, Abu Mena in Egypt, and Simien National Park in Ethiopia, you had better visit them soon.
Would you like to travel to another country and share your skills with a local community for as little as one week or as long as 40 weeks? Global Volunteers mobilizes more than 2500 volunteers annually on work projects, assisting more than 100 host communities in 20 countries on six continents through volunteer service, direct project funding, and child sponsorships.
Working at the invitation and under the direction of local leaders, volunteers are able to live and work with local people, teaching conversational English, providing health care services, caring for vulnerable children, as well as painting, building, and repairing community buildings.
How does a FREE one-week stay in a rural 4-star resort in Spain, including three meals a day, sound? Too good to be true? Guess again. It’s true! Okay; there IS one catch. You can only speak English there!
Pueblo Ingles is an immersion English language program to help Spaniards improve their English; and native English speakers are sought to take part in activities such as one-to-one conversations, group activities and games, mock conference calls, and entertaining theatre skits and presentations.
This is a unique opportunity for English speakers to be immersed in the Spanish culture, learn a lot about the Spanish people and their way of life, without a phrase book in sight. More than 1600 volunteers visit one of Pueblo Ingles’ locations each year and this number is set to grow as a result of the demand from Spanish clients.
