Volunteer to Save an Endangered Site on Your Next Vacation

Simien National Park in EthiopiaThere are 936 World Heritage sites listed by the UNESCO as having special cultural or physical significance throughout the world.   There are 35 on the endangered site list right now, including Everglades National Park in Florida.

These endangered sites are at risk of disappearing due to natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods, as well as man-made problems such as pollution, poaching, excessive tourism, and war.  If you want to see sites like the Belize Barrier Reef, the Tropical Rainforest of Sumatra, Abu Mena in Egypt, and Simien National Park in Ethiopia, you had better visit them soon.

Global Volunteers

Would you like to travel to another country and share your skills with a local community for as little as one week or as long as 40 weeks?  Global Volunteers mobilizes more than 2500 volunteers annually on work projects, assisting more than 100 host communities in 20 countries on six continents through volunteer service, direct project funding, and child sponsorships.

Working at the invitation and under the direction of local leaders, volunteers are able to live and work with local people, teaching conversational English, providing health care services, caring for vulnerable children, as well as painting, building, and repairing community buildings.
