The Annual Chocolate Festival in Turin, Italy
Located in northern Italy, capital of the Piedmont region, and located mainly on the left bank of the Po River, Turin (Torino), Italy, is often called the “cradle of Italian liberty.” It is known as the home of the Shroud of Turin, the headquarters of automobile manufacturers FIAT, Lancia, and Alfa Romeo, and the annual Chocolate Festival!
Turin makes nearly 60 percent of Italy’s chocolate, is considered to be the birthplace of solid chocolate, and is the home of more chocolatiers than Belgium and France combined.
Also known as CioccolaTO, the event takes place each year just before Easter in the Piazza Vittorio Veneto square. The Chocolate Festival in Turin will be March 2-11, 2012, this year.
